Description: This is a one-day training split between the topics of hearing and vision. In vision, participants will learn how and who to screen as well as who is at risk of vision impairments, warning signs, types of screening tools, and when/how to refer for further assessment/services. In hearing, participants will learn the types and causes of hearing loss, it’s impact on development, use of a screening questionnaire, when/how to screen, and when/how to refer for further assessments and services.


EI Providers and Families,

The 10th Illinois Statewide Collaborative Early Childhood Conference will be held Oct.17-19, 2007 at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield, IL. The pre-conference will take place on October 17, 2007 and will feature a full day of trainings offered through the Early Intervention Training Program. The Training Program will offer half-day sessions on:
Sibling Perspectives of a Brother with Cerebral Palsy;
Professional Boundaries in Natural Environments;
Working with African American Families;
Providers Helping Families with Transition (This session will include a panel discussion).
The Training program will also offer as a pre-conference session, a full-day workshop on
Developing Meaningful Intervention Plans for Families.

Providers who wish to attend the full conference taking place on October 18 & 19, 2007 will need to pay a registration fee of $150. The 2007 conference features internationally renowned presenters, a full menu of workshops, many approved for EI credit, hot topic discussion sessions, networking opportunities, a children’s Creative Art Gallery, and vendor exhibits.
